Planning an event or party takes a lot of time and effort. There are guest lists, decorations, presents, food, music and much more to deal with. One thing that doesn’t have to be a hassle is finding the venue for your event. The Henry County Library in Clinton has a community room built to accommodate community gatherings. Over the years the Friends of the Library Community Room has hosted a myriad of events such as birthday parties, baby showers, anniversary parties, family reunions, holiday parties, non-profit group meetings, local clubs, training sessions, work parties, bridal showers, weddings, and so much more! If you have a need for an event space chances are that you can find what you are looking for at the library.

The Friends of the Library Community Room has many great features. It can hold up to 50 people at a time. It has 8 folding tables and fifty chairs. It includes a private bathroom, and a kitchen area with a sink, stove, refrigerator, dishes and cups. It can be reserved for any day of the week. We have even recently upgraded the room to include a wall mounted high definition flat screen monitor and presentation podium with lap top and laser pointer which makes the room perfect for training sessions and professional presentations.

There are a couple of rules for the Friends Room. This resource is meant for community members. That means residents of Henry County or for groups and organizations that are providing services that benefit residents of Henry County. The room is free to rent for non-profit organizations. However, if the room is being used to sell materials or to make a financial profit, there is a $50.00 rental fee. If patrons wish to make use of the kitchen to cook food there is a $35.00 fee. Patrons are welcome to bring their own food into the room and use the refrigerator and sink at no cost.

Patrons can book the room by making a reservation over the phone at 660-885-2612 or e-mail a request to hcl@henrycolib.org. Patrons can also visit the Henry County Library web-page, www.henrycolib.org, and by clicking the link at the bottom of the page called “Reserve Friends of the Library Meeting Room” actually see which dates and times are available and which dates and times are already reserved. From this page patrons can also reserve the room electronically. Reservations are on a first come first served basis and the Henry County Library reserves the right to book the room for library programs. The weekend dates fill up fast, especially around the holidays so if you have an up-coming party that you need a venue for please contact the library ASAP.

The Friends of the Library Meeting Room is just one of a plethora of services that the Henry County Library offers to the community. Our goal is to be a gathering space and activity center for all the residents of Henry County.
