VAMPIRES IN HISTORY AND LITERATURE

VAMPIRES IN HISTORY AND LITERATURE

Vampires have fascinated us for hundreds of years. From their start in European folklore, to their personification in historical figures such as Vlad the Impaler and Elizabeth Bathory the Blood Countess, they have made us reexamine the darker side of our own humanity. Vampires have been immortalized throughout the past few centuries in poetry, novels, and on film. Today the modern horror villain has morphed into a romantic hero. On Monday, October 29th join the Henry County Library for a look back at the history of vampires and the exploration of their impact on our popular culture. The program will end with a book discussion of the novel Dracula by Bram Stoker. The library will be handing out free copies of Dracula in advance starting on Monday Oct 1st. This program includes mature content is intended for teens and adults. Snacks will be provided.
